The Ethical Slut is more
than just a simple book. It is a guide for polyamory and open relationships.
Dossie Easton and Catherine Liszt wrote it with the purpose of providing a
guide for consensual non-monogamy as a lifestyle and how long term relationships
would work in such lifestyle. In this book the authors defy the traditional
views that society has about how a relationship should be and it offers a new
perspective for those who have been feeling out of place and trapped in a world
that doesn’t understand their way of loving.
I think that this book is
well informed and reliable, because it is based on the author’s own experiences
and their studies. While reading this book, I was introduced to many ways of
loving that I wasn’t aware existed. The authors present a model for relationship
not based on convenience and conventions but on friendship, love and free will.
I learned that one person to feel complete doesn’t need to have a partner, we
should first have a good relationship with ourselves, and that is what we share
with others in a healthy way.
In my opinion each person
is different with different likes and dislikes, needs and desire, therefore
everyone should have the right to choose the way they want to love thus the way
they wish to live their life.
